Good morning to everyone. We have a doctor's appointment today at 2:00 and the doctor comes to the hotel! Josh had a lot of respiratory problems during his second month. He was a little congested when we got him last Tuesday and just yesterday, it got a lot worse. It is probably just a cold, but during the night, he sounded like a dragon and at times he couldn't get a good breath in. Since he has a history of needing hospitalization for respiratory problems, we want to do anything we can to help him out. It will cost us $50 and maybe the doctor can tell these new parents what to do. I'm not sure that I will be able to understand everything, so hopefully the one staff, the owner, that speaks English and Spanish will be here this afternoon. If not, I have my dictionary handy and I'll get a list of words ready to describe Josh's symptoms so far.
We'll post more later!
(And Chad's back is a little bit better today- thanks for the prayers and keep 'em coming!)

Hey guys! Chad, will keep your back in my prayers. For upper resp. issues when Cokes was a babe, we would run a shower until it got all steamy in the bathroom and stand in there, to break up the chest-phlegm a bit. Doc rec'd it, but I've heard various opinions on it. Worked for us! Also, elevating the crib mattress, just stick a pillow or roll a towel on one end, this can keep his head elevated for ease in breathing. Listen to me! Betsy-boss-in-boots!;) Just trying to be helpful! Thinking of you guys daily, love~b
Hello there! The three of your are in our prayers that everybody will be feeling better soon! I spoke with a friend of mine from Columbia and he said that fruit that you were talking about is granadilla. He said that the reason that the girls were laughing the first time you ate it was because in Columbia they talk about the edible part of the fruit as looking like elephant boogers. Now the next time you eat it, you'll be able to understand the Columbian perspective on it! Love Jason, Jeanne & Cousin Kyle
Hi Chad, Kristin and Josh
I hope the doctors appointment went well and that you got some helpful suggestions! I hope it is just a cold. It always sounds so painful when they can't breath very well! I'm glad to hear that Chad's back is doing a little better! Thanks for keeping us posted! Take care!

Hi Theis family -
Since it's just after 2:00, you're probably meeting with the doctor as I write this. I hope you were able to communicate your concerns and that you got some helpful advice for Josh's breathing (and maybe even for Chad's back!) We had a couple of towels under Gabe's mattress for the first 3-5 months to help with his reflux (until we regularly found that he slid to the foot of the bed every night when he would wiggle around!) When he had a cold, our pediatrician always said the elevated mattress would help.
Espero que Uds. tres puedan descanzar esta tarde y dormir bien durante la noche y que todos sienten mejor manana!
Amy
Hope all went well with your doctor's appt. I agree with the suggestions of steamy bathroom and raising the mattress. It worked for me! If the air is dry a small portable humidifer would help. I'm so glad all your paperwork has been moving along. You have a beautiful son and I just can't get enough of looking at all the great photos of your journey. Oh, by the way, I think the fruit you are eating looks like maggots, although I'm sure it tastes good. Try to bring some home!
Take Care, Gail
Hi Theis Family! I hope that the doctor appointment went well today-- hotel call, how nice! :) And I'm also happy to hear that Chad's back is a bit better...we'll keep praying that it gets even better than it has so far! Little Mark saw the doctor today too! He's got this funky blotchy rash that is coming and going all over his cute little body. He's acting normal, no temp, eating and sleeping well, but I wanted to have him checked out anyway. The doctor said it's a "viral rash" and not a big deal at all. I feel so much better, though, hearing it from a pediatrician! :) It'll be interesting to see how you guys handle these little things that come up...wait and see or go to the doctor right away... I'm pretty much a go to the doctor right away type of Mom. :) I think that Shawn's a go to the doctor right away type of Dad too, when it comes to his little ones or his wife. He's a wait and see and maybe complain a little type of guy when it comes to his own health, though. :) Awwww...sweet Shawny. :) I miss you guys! Can't wait to actually TALK to you when you come home. :) :) Love and hugs!
